Aiden Markram ball

The second day of the first Test between India and South Africa in Vizag saw a hilarious incident as the cricket ball was lost during the final session of the play.

It all happened in the 129th over of India’s first innings. When Keshav Maharaj bowled the 5th ball of his 52nd over, the wicketkeeper behind the stumps didn’t get any clue of the ball as it turned, and the batting team was given four byes.

The ball got stuck in between the boundary rope padding, but the South African players were searching the ball under the covers that were kept beside the ropes as a precautionary measure to protect the 22 yards from rain. After a couple of minutes, Aiden Markram came to help his teammates as he knew where the ball was and picked it up.

Be it Markram, the commentators, or those watching the match on their TV sets, and there was laughter all-around at the situation. Commentator and former Indian cricketer Murali Kartik even said: “I have never seen anything like this in international cricket!”
