Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman

Sourav Ganguly has been unanimously elected as the President of the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) at the recent event held in Mumbai.

Ever since Ganguly has been elected as the BCCI President, congratulatory messages have started pouring in to wish the former Indian captain. Even VVS Laxman, who is touted to be close to Ganguly, wished ‘the Prince of Kolkata’ on social media and said that he has got no doubt that under Dada’s leadership, Indian Cricket will continue to prosper.

“Congrats @SGanguly99 on becoming the President of @BCCI, I have got no doubt that under your leadership, Indian Cricket will continue to prosper. Wishing you lots of success in your new role Dada,” Laxman tweeted.

After becoming the BCCI President, Ganguly said that nothing beats the feeling of being an Indian captain.

In an interview with India Today, he also mentioned that his priority would be about looking after first-class Cricket.

“I had requested the CoA, and they have not listened. Ranji Trophy cricket will be the focus. To take care of cricketers’ financial interest,” he said after his name was finalized in an informal meeting of BCCI state units.

Ganguly also said that being the BCCI President is more of a challenge as India is a powerhouse of talent.
