India vs Bangladesh Day-Night Test

On Tuesday (October 29), newly-elected BCCI President Sourav Ganguly confirmed that team India would be playing their first Day-Night Test at Eden Gardens from November 22-26. The match will begin at 2 pm (IST) and will consist of a Tea and Dinner break.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will also be present for the opening day of the Test match.

Virat Kohli-led Indian team had already agreed to the pink-ball contest. Ganguly thanked Bangladesh Cricket Board and Kohli for their co-operation.

“The BCB has confirmed, and we are having a pink-ball Test. It’s a good development. Test cricket needs this push. Me and my team were bent on it, and thanks to Virat (Kohli) also, he agreed,” said Ganguly.

“It’s just my job, that’s what I’m here for. Because I’ve played this game for so long, I think it’s a great move for Test cricket, and hopefully it will bring crowds back to the ground,” Ganguly added.

Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo expressed his excitement about the event. “It’s going to be a massive occasion at the Eden Gardens. It will be a new experience for both teams. So we’re very excited. There will be uncertainty among players of both teams of playing a pink-ball Test. Both teams don’t quite know what to expect, so it could work in our favor,” told Domingo.

Bangladesh will begin their campaign against India on November 3 with a three-match T20I series.
