Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli

Starting a new life in red-ball cricket as an opener, Rohit Sharma smashed an unbeaten century in his new role as India comfortably reached 202/0 before rain stopped play on Day 1 of the opening Test against South Africa in Vishakapatnam on Tuesday.

Rohit scored an unbeaten 115 off 174 balls, while Mayank Agarwal too was on course for a century, reaching 84 off 183 balls at stumps.

The Mumbaikar reached to his fifty before lunch, shifted gears and was particularly harsh on the Proteas spinners. He smacked off-spinner Danie Piedt for consecutive sixes over deep midwicket to get into the nineties before completing his fourth Test hundred with a single off debutant Senuran Muthusamy.

As soon as Rohit completed his century, the whole dressing room gave a standing ovation and applauded him for his brilliant knock. Virat Kohli and Co. looked graciously happy over their teammate’s success.
